Rukanah was a famous wrestler of his time in Arabia. He had won many wrestling bout and his name had become a terror in his profession. Nobody dared to face him. This made Rukanah mighty proud of his strength and valour.

When the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) conveyed the teachings of Islam to his followers, Rukanah was also there. He threw a challenge to the great prophet and said, “Wrestler as I am, I shall not accept you as a messenger of God and embrace Islam unless you defeat me in a wrestling bout”. Brave and fearless as our Prophet was, he accepted the challenge without hesitation. And why should he hesitate when he feared none but Allah. Thrice, the Holy Prophet knocked down the proud wrestler Rukanah. Losing the fight, Rukanah realized the difference. He was ashamed of his unwise challenge. Faith with he recited the Syahadah: “There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is Allah’s messenger”, and embraced Islam.

2. Matchless Forgiveness

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was sleeping under a tree one day. Da’sur, a hostile horseman happened to pass that way. He jumped down the faithful animal and pulled out his sword to put the enemy of his gods to death. Awaken by he noise, the prophet opened his eyes, and saw a sword shining over his head. “Who will save you now?”, cried the unbeliever with a look of triumph. “Allah!”, was he confident reply of the Holy Prophet.

These words struck the unbeliever with great terror. He began to tremble and his sword fell down. The Prophet got up with the same sword in his hand and said to Da’sur, “But who will save you now?”. “None”, replied the idol worshipper. “No?”, replied the Prophet with a smile on his face. “You are entirely mistaken. My God will save you, just as He has saved me. Here is your sword, have it, and go your way”. The unbeliever was filled with great surprise at this strange forgiveness for his insolence. He tried to go away, but could not do so without embracing Islam.
